DNA:BARCODE

Optical glass slab, 35cm x 28cm x 5cm. Drill-engraved; water-gilded 24ct gold and palladium leaf, freestanding on wooden feet. One of a very personal series of works in response to the increase in arbitrary divisions in society; the DNA series aimed to emphasise that "we have more in common that that which divides us”. The pattern of bars therefore is arbitrary – it is not an actual DNA code – but at the same time regular.
